Advanced Mixed Martial Arts for Officers
This site is dedicated to all of the Officers who have gone before us.
The A.M.M.O. system for Law Enforcement has been created to augment the often very rudimentary defense and control tactics taught in the Academy. The training we receive as rookie officers, while sound in the basic mechanics, lacks several facets applicable to everyday law enforcement. It only skims the surface. As martial arts instructors we quickly recognized the inadequacies and omissions in standard training. This recognition prompted further study, experimentation, and practice in real world situations, in order to design and develop an effective and comprehensive tactics control program we call A.M.M.O. This program’s mission is to equip fellow officers with the most effective arsenal of control tools available. Our goal is that no officer should fall due to faulty or inadequate training.
We took a simple approach in developing this system. We identified every day problems, we found straight forward and effective solutions, and we modified martial arts techniques into easy to learn applications. This is not a compilation of several different techniques and systems; it is a system that draws upon the best from a variety of arts which are modified specifically for law enforcement usage. We have also devolved various techniques that are solely used in this system and nowhere else.
This program is a result of hundreds of hours of study and practice, interviews with Law Enforcement Officers, defensive tactics instructors, and other members of the Law Enforcement community. After careful study, we tested, and tested, and tested again the efficiency of our techniques, both in the dojo and on the streets. This program is designed to enhance the performance and safety of law enforcement officers. It is not a program to teach law enforcement officers martial arts.
Dojo instruction is often specific to a certain style. Emphasis is on the history and the movements endorsed by that particular art. Flexibility of technique is often lacking, and there are few attempts to mainstream techniques or to combine styles. It is a sport and a study, but it is often too far removed from the reality of self defense.
The intensity and reality of what happens in a typical street encounter is lost at the dojo. Most martial arts have deviated from their original purpose, which was to train and equip warriors. We are ardently working to reverse this trend. We want martial arts to be applicable and practical. We want to train law enforcement for street survival. This requires a much different mindset then what is taught at most studios.
A.M.M.O is designed to take law enforcement to the next level of safety, control, and proficiency.
You wouldn’t risk your life or the lives of others by hitting the street with an empty chamber or the wrong ammunition, don’t risk your life by not having the right A.M.M.O.
